Rights of Way
Cllr Herbert reported on the Rights of Way plan to improve the countryside
access in Kingsley with replacement gates for stiles in agreement with
local landowners advising them of the availability of small grants from
the Countryside Access Forum. Other projects include drainage and improved
path surfaces.
Cllr Herbert also advised on a request from HCC to assist in providing
information about the local existing network of routes enjoyed by the
public and how they could be improved. A response on behalf on the Parish
Council was proposed.
Cllr Herbert commented on the work carried out earlier year by two youngsters
as part of the Community Reparation scheme and that a further request
had been received from HCC for community work in June. Various sites were
suggested for consideration.
Cllr Herbert advised that the next Circular Walk would take place on July
5th over Shortheath Common.
Village
Litterpick
The next Village litterpick will be at 11.30a.m., 22nd June concentrating
on the Sandrock area of Kingsley Common.
Kingsley
Common
A local resident had reported that a disused well on Kingsley Common might
still be open and therefore a risk to walkers and their dogs. The MOD,
had been informed however no reply had been received to date.
Incidences of unaccompanied horses on the Common have been reported however
unless they are proving a nuisance on the Public Highway the local police
will not get involved. The Hampshire Horsewatch Officer (07762 754788)
should be contacted in the first instance.
Ahmadiyya
Association
Cllr Herbert and Dennison attended a peace Conference of the Ahmadiyya
Association at their mosque in Morden and Cllr Herbert had attended the
Walk-in Peace Seminar held at the Kingsley Centre.
Local
History Day
Helen Mirwald was intending to assist by providing some material about
Kingsley for the ‘Local History Day’ in Alton on 24th May.
Village
Forum
At a meeting at the end of April at the Kingsley Centre representatives
of the Centre explained that they wished to encourage closer links with
the village and village life. One suggestion was for a ‘Village
Diary’ where organisations could co-ordinate functions and events. |
